Palazzo + Villa

Paper-making is what binds my villa and palazzo. With a strong family-history in book binding and handiwork, these two places respond to these skills. The palazzo is located in Vicenza, directly next to the Basilica by Andrea Palladio. The tall vertical space is treated as a showroom for exhibiting handmade paper that would be produced once a year in the villa. This showroom makes reference to the historic uses of palazzi. They would be places of grand wealth and beauty. However, rather than showing off jewels and riches, paper takes it place. The villa is located 2 hours south west of Vicenza. It follows the historic roman road that once connected Verona to the Venetian Lagoon. This is the experimental house where paper is made from local roots and fibers. Large sieves float alongside the villa and allow for various papers of different sizes to be formed.
